Agro-biodiversity Protection in Enhancing Farmers' Livelihoods in Arjan
To protect the unique eco-system of Wadi Rayan in Ajloun governorate and assist its farmers to maintain the biological diversity important to agriculture and improve their economic situation at the same time, the Arjan Charity Society will implement this project in which farmers will be encouraged to maintain traditional methods of agriculture, water management and land preservation, in addition to some modern viable and sound agricultural practices that would preserve significant species of indigenous fruit trees in the area. Part of the grant will be used to support the above activities at the farm level using the revolving fund approach in order to insure widening the base of beneficiaries and the sustainability of the project. The project will be technically supported by the Agro-biodiversity Project, implemented by the National Center for Agricultural Research and Technology Transfer.
