The conference will address (a) the collection and treatment of household and industrial organic wastewater; (b) Analysis of the impact on the environment of the controlled or uncontrolled dumping of organic waste in the Suriname River, especially the septic tank and latrine sludge; (c) information about inexpensive, but effective methods (i.e. national and international measures) to cope with this problem; and (d) possible Surinamese initiatives and plan of action of governmental and private organizations to arrive at adequate wastewater management.
