Fifty three (53) rainwater-harvesting structures were created in public places like slums, schools, housing colonies, market places and temples covering an area of 1855 square meter of roof and one acre of land. The structures have a potential to collect 1,446,900 litres of rainwater during an average rainfall of 1300mm. 10,000 women from the urban slums participated in the awareness meetings, exhibitions and Participatory Learning Analysis. 6 water management committees were formed in the 6 slums. 11 one-day trainings were conducted for the Water Management Committee members. A handbook in Tamil on RWH was published. Students influenced their parents to build individual RWH structures at the household level. The 53 RWH structures collected 1,148,616 litres of water in 4 months that had a rainfall of 1032mm.
