The objectives planned in the project proposal were accomplished. There were, however some problems and difficulties faced which served as lessons for the future, such as the inadequacy of the agronomist responsible for the field activities. The agronomist left the project, damaging the motivation of the involved Terena. The scope of the environmental activities originally planned was thus limited to the plant nursery, instead of the backyards and other areas. There were also problems with information exchange between the Terena and the government agency responsible for activities in Indigenous lands, and internal political conflicts. A few of the lessons learned include the fact that it was a mistake to depend so heavily on the agronomist instead of having Terena co-managers, and that partnerships with government for safer and more effective activities from a legal standpoint are important. The following activities are worthy of note: optimization of the organic composting for the nursery; management of segments of agroforests within the nursery; production of biofertilizers; distribution of seedlings in the neighboring villages; use of the nursery for promotion of educational activities; dissemination of the Terean women?s ceramic works in the cities of Bonito, Jardim, Nioaque and Miranda; assembly of a Terena handcrafts catalog for dissemination of the work in hotels and gift shops in towns with tourist activity; two workshops for the women with a ceramics professional for approximation of the women?s work to the demands of the market.
