Art in the Backyards of the Cerrado
A Arte nos Quintais do Cerrado
A Arte nos Quintais do Cerrado
This project aims to strengthen and add value to the terena handcrafts form the Cachoeirinha Indigenous Lands, in the municipality of Miranda, state of Mato grosso do Sul. This will be done through activities combining production and conservation of the local natural resources used as raw materials in the assembly of these crafts. The project puts emphasis on the inter-relationship between Terena cultural survival and protection of the Cerrado still standing in their territory. Domestic backyards will be populated by species used in the confection of the handcrafts. Community members will be trained in management of these species. A quality standard will be set for the Terena crafts, and dissemination material will be prepared, in an attempt to create markets for these products.
