This project targets the development of agrotourism and ecotourism in Brazlândia, Distrito Federal as driving forces in the sustainable development and environmental protection in the region, according to the Local Integrated Sustainable Development Plan (DLIS). The region is responsible for supplying 65% of the water for the Distrito Federal, and has great potential for the development of these tourist activities. The planned activities include an inventory of tourist attractions, diagnosis of local strengths and weaknesses, preparation of a tourism development plan, implementation of a Tourist Resource Center, and monitoring of the first three months of activity.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
30 community members will be trained in the tourism activities in Brazlândia, by means of workshops for the inventory, for the participative diagnosis, for the service, product and route planning, and for management and operation of the Tourist resource Center. 10 tourism students and 4 business administration students from Caiçaras College will further be trained in ecotourism and agroturism management in Brazlândia.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Capacity-building in ecotourism and agrotourism will insure protection of the local environment and reduced rate of soil parceling. Furthermore, value will be added to the local production, and sales will increase. The Tourist Resource Center will bring more tourists to the area, not only maintaining the environmental and social benefits brought about, but also expanding them.
