Brazlândia is of great environmental importance, housing a mosaic of conservation units such as the National Forest (FLONA) of Brasília, the Cafuringa and Descoberto Environmental Protection Areas, and beautiful waterfalls caves small rural properties, inns and restaurants which could make up the routes for ecological and rural tourism. Despite these attractions, the region falls victim to high anthropic pressure, characteristic of the disorderly occupation in Distrito Federal, and to the agrotoxins used in horticulture. Offering an alternative source of income for the population which can allow the biome to be conserved in the meantime was thus the purpose of this project, with the expected added benefit of adoption by the local smallholders of agroecological techniques in their horticulture. A series of meetings and discussions for project planning took place in the Planning Grant stage of this project, with heavy participation by the community. New partnerships were also sought during this stage, ensuring its promotion to the status of ?Full?.
