Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Courses and workshops will be held in an attempt to qualify professionals from the local communities. These professionals will be managers capable of entrepreneurship in activities which will add value to the local economy while conserving the biome. Self-esteem in the communities will be boosted as the sustainability of their livelihoods is appreciated and secured.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The work of the local community members will be improved through their participation in the courses planned. This project will have social and environmental benefits. The potential increase in income depends on conservation of the local biodiversity and continuation of the traditional smallholder practices in the region. Unsustainable use of resources will thus be diminished, as will the destruction of the local Cerrado.
