Alternative Sustainable Livelihoods -- COMPACT Public Information, Education and Communication Strategy
Alternative Sustainable Livelihoods -- COMPACT Public Information, Education and Communication Strategy
BEST was one of the three partner NGOs that developed the Baseline Assessment, Conceptual Model and COMPACT Country Strategy and has direct experience with COMPACT grantees and the necessary linkages with the communities that will be targeted in the COMPACT Communications Strategy project.
The implementation of the COMPACT Communication Strategy will include the following activities:

o Organizing and conducting field exchange visits and focus groups to facilitate lessons learnt and enhance communication among grantees;
o Collection, replication and dissemination of educational materials produced by the COMPACT projects;
o Establishing of a repository of project outputs and storage of educational materials;
o Conducting of conservation flights by Lighthawk for key stakeholders to heighten awareness of biodiversity conservation and increase public awareness of the projects that are being carried out in and around the reserves that make up the Belize Barrier Reef Reserves System (WHS) and
o Hosting of a National COMPACT Forum whereby stakeholders and other participants can present their work, experiences, lessons learnt and make recommendations for policy changes to local and national authorities.

In order to execute the above mentioned activities, BEST will consult, collaborate and work closely with the nine COMPACT grantees and other stakeholders throughout the planning and design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of this project. Such an approach ensures the full participation of the communities and their ownership of the process and will be a contributing factor as to the success of the project.
