Capacity-Building and Piloting Community-Based Conservation of the Philippine Cockatoo and its Lowland Habitats in Narra, Palawan
Since the project intends to apply an ecosystematic approach in the conservation of Philippine Cockatoo and other endangered wildlife, it will greatly involved people and small island ecosystem. This ecosystem includes both marine and terrestrial components of the island.

The general purpose of the project is to help save the the Philippine Cockatoo from extinction. Since conservation is equal to people's participation, this project aims to focus on the community awareness and involvement to sustain the activities initiated by the PCCP.

Specifically, the project intends to conduct intensive capacity building initiatives and strengthens IEC in Narra and other sites in Palawan where there are confirmed populations of Phil. Cockatoos. This will heightens the awareness and commitment of the populace on the protection and conservation of the Katala's and its habitat from illegal activities i.e., poaching for pet trade, cutting of mangroves.

Capacity - Building Component
Project components: 1. Cockatoo Nest Protection Activities; 2. Monitoring of other wildlife species with important conservation status in Rasa Island; 3. Preliminary study on phenology of food-providing trees in Rasa; 4. Capacity-Building; 5. IEC; 6. Installation of mooring buoys for ecotourism; 7. Organization of other stakeholders of Rasa; 8. Strengthening of alternative livelihood.
