Lola Holiday (Attraction of attention of the population of Zhambyl area to the problem of conservation of rare wild tulips species)
Lola Holiday (Attraction of attention of the population of Zhambyl area to the problem of conservation of rare wild tulips species)
The habitat of the Greig and Kaufman tulips, which are in the Red Data Book of Kazakhstan is catastrophically reduced on the territory of Zhambyl area for the past 15 years. The tulips natural habitat close to Zhambyl city, is now completely destroyed. One of the reasons is ecological illiteracy of the population, lack of educational and propaganda activities, therefore it leads to uncontrolled cattle grazing, ploughing tha lands where the rare kinds of tulips grow.

The purpose of the project is to maintain participation of the local communities of Zhualin area in preservation of rare tulips species. For this purpose a wide information campaign will be realized: information materials will be widespread, a number of specialized seminars for various target groups is lead (for local forestries, teachers of schools, NGOs, local authorities). A series of meetings will be arranged for local people of rural areas. A specialized bulletin will be published, video-film devoted to the problem will be created and demonstrated on TV, during seminars, trainings, meetings. The project is expected to be covered broadly by mass-media.

It's expected that the information campaign will capture a wide audience, inform anout the problem, and promote involvement of the local communities into activities on conservation of rare and endangered species of tulips.
