Now the ecological situation with water objects of the Aktyubinsk area is extremely adverse. In particular, it concerns those reservoirs which cover city territories with developed industry and infrastructure. The situation is that industrial drains of the industrial enterprises, municipal services, and dumps of household waste can be found in each of the water reservoirs of the area. Feature of the Aktyubinsk area is that it borders Russia, and many of the rivers are transboundary ones. This require more responsible approach.

One of the problem's aspects is that the population of the area doesn't focus attention to pollution of transboundary waters. There is lack of publications in mass-media, NGOs' activity in environmental issues is quite poor.

The project draws attention of the local population to the problem of transboundary reservoirs pollution and raises awareness of the local people about the current situation with water resources by carrying out information-educational actions, seminars and lectures, publication of booklets.
The results expected to be reached are
- Awareness of the population about the problem and methods it could be solved is raised,
- The ecological and sanitary condition of the city rivers coast is improved.
