The end product of the survey would equip the locals with knowledge to make decisions about the ulization of the biodiversity so as to sustain their liveliehood.

The local community initiated the idea of the conserving their area as a WMA to the NGO and therefore are supportive of this project. Another community also involved is the Bulolo Forestry College, a subsidary of the Forestry Department of the University of Technology.

The project is on customary land with the customary landowners agreement to conserve their land and find out what is on their land and what benefits this would bring without engaging large scale environmental destructive activities.

With the information collected and processed and disseminated, it is expected that traditional leaders will be involved in the management of the conserved area so that unecessary destruction in the protected area will be illegal and penalised. It is anticipated that the information collected will be used to educate the people of the readily, available, cheap and effective traditional medicinal plants, food, housing materials etc. that is within reach as the location of this area is very remote to the nearest government goods and services. Hence, ownership of the project would indicate strenghtening and building the local community's capacity in this project.
