Potential global benefits of the project
Thanks to the project the flash flood threats to Deer nursery was prevented. It was achieved due to construction of the protective dam, by traditional national method (seypai), strengthening the river bank by planting the willow (1000 pieces), poplar (600 pieces) and black currant bushes (350 pieces) and training local population to look after saplings of wood and bush vegetation.
Link the practice of sustainable livelihoods to a GEF focal area
The construction of the protective dam allows maintaining the fence of nursery which is the basic employer in the Iyri-Suu stow. Planting the wood and fruit bushes will give additional sources of fire wood and building materials, and also will reduce charges of the population on purchase of berries and fruits.
Community driveness of the project
Plantings were distributed among the families, which are members of the family association "Iyri-Suu ". The works on construction of the protective dam were carried out collectively. Distribution the plots of the plantation were done after collective discussion. The population is interested in the project because they understand that protection of maral nursery is a guarantee of jobs and attraction of tourists.
Capacity ?building component
The population (mainly cattlemen) gets new skills in agriculture and cultivation wood and bush plantings for internal consumption.
Gender focus
There is not gender approach strongly expressed in the project, but some of kinds of project?s activities (looking after saplings, gathering of berries) will be attractive to women.
Co-financing received
Co-financing from Public Association «Eco-zdoroviye» in cash is $, in kind is $.
The main kinds of co-finance were labor on saplings planting and dam construction.

Links between this project and the overall GEF follows from public awareness on global environment problems. Assistance in conservation and reproduction of marals - endemic is direct contribution into conservation of global biodiversity.

The actions under the project will result not only in flash flood threats reduction, but also in preservation of species included in the Red Book, that will be the direct contribution to preservation of a global biodiversity will be emphasized at seminars and other advocacy actions

There is no obvious influence on government policy on National level but the nursery territory and saplings plant allocated by authority of Naryn Preservation to family association "Iyri-Suu" is illustration of project influence on the local level.
