capacity building and public awareness project to protect the native biodiversity resources (fauna and flora) by reducing the threats and damage of the random touristy activities at selected hotspots in the three locations in Bethelehem- Dair Mar Saba and Irtas village-and Jericho district. The project will also bring the concept of eco-tourism to the awareness of the tourist industry, educational schems in particular and the community in general through conducting traininag for tourist guides and launching awareness campaigns.

Capacity - Building Component
Capacity Building through organizing 3 training workshops of 24 hours each attended by 25-30 tourist guides and conducting 3 study days for the Ministry of Education and Tourism, tourist agents and police. The programme will be combination of lectures and felid-based training with particular focus on several issues among which are; significant touristy locations, concept of environmental education and media, significant characteristics of flora and fauna of the selected areas, monitoring wildlife, international conventions of biodiversity and wildlife conservation and the concept of ecological tourism and conducting 3 study days for the Ministry of Education and Tourism, tourist agents and police.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Disseminating the concept of eco-tourism between the community, officials and NGOs to promote biodiversity conservation through raising public awareness and building capacities targeting three groups of beneficiaries; tourist guides, tourist police, and heads of sections of informal education.
Producing educational bilingual book of 148 pages in 2000-copy and documentary film of 20-25 minutes in 500-copy addressing biodiversity characteristic on three selected localities mentioned earlier.
