We have to preserve our forest
We have to preserve our forest
The project solves a problem of protection natural walnut forests in buffer zone of Sary-Chelek national biosphere reserve. The walnut forests are under strong anthropogenous influence (gathering of fruits, cutting for fire wood, grazing, haymaking). Outplanting of young growths of a wild pear, apple is added to mentioned kinds of influence in stows of Batkak, Semiz Bel, Takyr Dobo. Young growths are used for inoculations to cultivars. Thus, the young growths of the trees included in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan or being endemics of the Central Asia are being destroyed (Central Asian pear, pear of Korjinskogo, mountain ash of Turkistanskaya, apple of Nedvedskogo, Persian mountain ash, hawthorn of Knorring)
The basic idea of the project is to stop outplanting in the natural forest by creation of artificial nursery and a plantation. The nursery (the area - 0,5 hectares) is intended for cultivation of saplings from seeds of wild-growing fruiters trees. Saplings then will be planted in a plantation (5 hectares, it is expected, that in future the square will be increase to 20 hectares). It will be possible to take young growths from a plantation, without any damage to natural walnut forest.
Basic project components are
1. Conducting training seminars for the local population.
2. Establish community based nursery forest in 0,5 hectares.
3. Planting endemic kind of pants in 5 hectares land.
4. Taking care for saplings and distribute lots among the local population
5. Information campaign.
