Two six-day workshops on project planning and proposal writing were conducted, at Okashana Training Centre and Mashare Agricultural Training Centre. The workshops provided information on the process of identifying possible projects, and project planning and management. Participants were introduced to the logical framework methodology for planning a project, and to the concepts of situational analysis and marketing mix for project identification, planning and management. The participants were also provided with the framework for writing an SGP proposal and were assisted with identifying projects suitable for SGP funding. There were 20 participants at each workshop. The consultant also conducted capacity building field trips to the Caprivi and Kavango regions to assist potential grant recipients with all variables relating to their projects.

SGP has received many good initiatives from the areas in which the workshops were held, although most of these these initiatives still require further development as bankable proposals. One conservancy which was visited during the field trips has recieved an SGP grant for their project.
