Our gminas protect wetlands "Nowy Lipsk"
Main goals of the project:
? Reconstruction of open meadows (sedge-bryophytes) in area of Nowy Lipsk and Jalowo island (breeding sites of valuable bird species: aquatic warbler, black grouse, and place of occurrence of rare plant associations); to achieve this goal-scrubs and trees have to be cut and grass must be mown;
? Creation of conditions for development of environmental education and tourism (improvement of educational-tourist infrastructure thanks to building 3 look-on towers, signing of natural paths);
? Creation of partnership model of cooperation between Biebrza National Park, local communities and NGOs (including natural education of local community ? ornithological workshops).

Demonstration of possible actions to be taken by local communities to protect marshy grounds (actions unique in Poland).
Notable Community Participation
To achieve projects goals, active participation of local community was essential. Local farmers took part in agro-environmental programmes, they also helped in cutting shrubs. Local group of naturalists (students and teachers from 3 local high schools) to monitor project results, was created.
