Enhancing Public Awareness and Community Action on the Health and Environmental Impacts of Mercury (Hg) in the Sekayam Watershed, Sanggau, West Kalimantan.
Project development Goal and Objective:
To develop a project planning and proposal on public campaign and development of community action concerning the health and environmental impacts of mercury (Hg) among the community gold miners and river community in Sekayam Watershed, Sanggau, West Kalimantan.
Project Activities:
1. To organize strategic meeting among communities, local government and people?s organization in Sanggau and Pontianak.
2. To develop campaign strategy, community actions and a proposal employing participatory approach.
3. To enhance the awareness and knowledge of local people about the health and environment impacts of mercury.
Expected output :
1. Series of multistakeholder meeting involving community, government and people?s organizations and key players involved in mercury trade and utilization.
2. A concept and strategic plan including campaign, network and partnership strategy, and community actions.
3. A full-proposal covering problem-in-context analysis of mercury cycle in community-based gold mining and pollution of Sekayam River; ecological threats and reduction analysis, actors analysis, overall project goal and objectives proposed activity, indicators of project progress and budget.
