Planning Grant to Assist the Sireletsa Somarela Environmental Organisation, Bakgatla Community to develop their Traditional herbalist Project.
The project falls within the Biodiversity Conservation focal area. It intends to achieve the following objectives:
An Indigenous herbal garden is developed on land allocated by the Pilanesburg Provincial Park; and
Indigenous knowledge is documented for future generations while at the same time educating the youth through youth clubs on the medicinal properties of various plants. Based on the above, the National Steering Committee proposed and agreed that the community be supported through a planning grant to develop their proposal further.
