Integrated Energy Efficiency Programme in Rural Sector in North Gujarat
Integrated Energy Efficiency Programme in Rural Sector in North Gujarat
Project overview:
In the backdrop of continued increase in energy demand in India, it is visible that there is a strong emphasis upon supply side management, which is leading to more energy generation. In a country like India, this is primarily dependent upon fossil fuel, which creates adverse impact on environment and health. The situation of Gujarat is even more detrimental in the sense that it aspires to be the strongest economic power in the country. Agriculture being the highest consumer of electricity needed serious consideration in the direction of energy efficiency, which would ease the burden of state exchequer, and the environmental health could also be improved. The undertaken project intended to attend to the issues of energy conservation at the grassroots in an integrated manner.

Project details:
? To identify the energy use pattern in the village and locate level of efficiency in energy at various use points.
? Capacity-building of community for improvement in energy efficiency.
? Involving farmers for better energy management in the agricultural sector and to encourage livelihood options based upon energy management.
? Demonstration of alternative approaches and capacitating the youth for the development of single-window energy solutions.
