Capacity Building for Participatory Conservation of Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management around Nawegaon National Park.
The aim of the project was to enhance the capacity building of stakeholders to facilitate actions for reducing biotic pressure and to generate village level microplans. The strategy followed included creation of physical assets like depot bank, community centre etc, and also creation of local level people?s institutions. The project served the following objectives
? Environmental awareness of the community members through education and training
? Conservation and management of biodiversity through community participation for sustainable future
? Promote forest produce based sustainable livelihoods through community participation
? Research & study of the threatened species of flora, fauna and biodiversity to prepare conservation oriented management plans.

Gender Focus
At least 50% women participation was ensured at all times of working, in decision-making and work undertaken by the committee. Women were especially empowered under SHG promotion and their group income generation activities.
Capacity - Building Component
Capacity building efforts of local community in terms of understanding, attitudes and skills were made to facilitate actions to reduce biotic pressure, change livelihood practices and enhancing quality of life.
