The communities surrounding Mt. kenya will benefit from the repatriation of the Bongo e.g. through an increase of Wildlife Tourism.

The local community will learn about endangered species and the importance of maintaining an endemic Biodiversity as a host. The environmental education programme offered by the William Holden Wildlife Foundation is reaching 7,754 Kenyans (Students, youth and adults) who have direct interaction with the Mountain ecosystem. Protected areas require the support of the surrounding communities to enhance the conservation of the biodiversity.

The project is targeting both men and women and in addition the youth. Men in particular are involved in poaching and hunting thus leading to the extinction of endangered animals e.g. the bongo.
