Potential global benefits of the project
Thanks to the project preservation of endemic kinds of flowers ? Alataviya Kolpakovskogo, Juno Kushakevicha, and Crocus Alatavskiy in Kurgendoy Mountain near the Kok-Jar village were provided. The nursery for their conservation in ex situ conditions was created. The reproduction of endemic flowers was ensured by planting them in native habitat, introducing temporary protective measures and demonstrating to local people alternative livelihood.
Link the practice of sustainable livelihoods to a GEF focal area
Participants of the project have 2 nurseries and a greenhouse that allow them to be engaged in cultivation of flowers, both rare endemics, and usual ones, for whom market demand exists.
Community driveness of the project
4 families participate in project planning, development and implementation. According to the agreement, the implementing NGO hand over the greenhouse to the families for maintenance and exploitation.
Capacity ?building component
The population (4 families) gets new skills in cultivation of flower-ornamental plants in green houses. The population gets new skills in flower-growing and raises the level of knowledge about interrelation of economic activity and rehabilitation of natural ecosystem. The level of knowledge about local flora and fauna rises. Implementing NGO gets experience in realization of the projects in the sphere of biodiversity, in ?green? business. The population becomes the owner of the greenhouse.
Gender focus
The realization of the project will create new jobs and professions especially to the women.
Co-financing received
Co-financing from Public Association ?Gul-Butak? in cash is 1020$, in kind is 425 $.
The main kinds of co-finance were labor on: explanatory work among inhabitants on biodiversity preservation and nursery creation.
Replication in other communities or regions
This project is appropriate for replicating in analogous geographic conditions communities and regions with same endemic flowers. There are no plans on up-scaling the project to a medium-sized GEF.

There is no obvious influence on government policy on National level but the resolution of local authority to prohibit grazing during flowering period is illustration of project influence on the local level.

 Wallboards and stands was placed with prohibition warnings and explanatory notifications
 Leaflets with the information on value of these plants for global biodiversity was published

 Brochure about endemic bulbous flowers in Kyrgyzstan were published
Assessment of impact of project in the GEF focal area
Project corresponds to Operational Program OP4 - Mountain Ecosystems and actions under the project result not only in additional sources of the income of the local population, but also in reproduction of natural bulbous flowers, included into Red Book, that is the direct contribution to preservation of global biodiversity which was emphasized at seminars and other advocacy actions.
