Potential global benefits of the project
Thanks to the project the competitive, scientifically, economically and socially based project proposal were elaborated on conservation and reproduction of two species included into Kyrgyz National Red book: gray Varanus and Uzun-Akmat grape on the peninsula.
Link the practice of sustainable livelihoods to a GEF focal area
The population is interested in the project because the project promises future benefits related to jobs and infrastructure development. The local population hopes to receive income from rent payment for peninsula and providing ecotourism services.
Community driveness of the project
The project realization was not possible without the consent of local population to make the peninsula protected zone, because the peninsula used as pasture for goats. Participation of the population in the project design stage allows avoiding conflicts at the implementation stage. Local population will participate in project elaboration stage as sources of baseline information and ensure logistics support.

Capacity ?building component
There is no strongly pronounced capacity building component in the project, but the level of ecological competence of the population aroused.
Gender focus
There is no obviously expressed gender approach in the project.
Co-financing received
Co-financing from Public Association ?Ecostudy? in cash is 90$, in kind is 20$.
The main kinds of co-finance were labor on peninsula flora and fauna inventory and gray Varanus capture. Contribution of local authority (allocating peninsula) is explained by interesting in increasing rent payment for plot which will in the future not pasture but ecotourism object.
Replication in other communities or regions
This project is not appropriate for replicating in other places because of peninsula availability and the species which are endemic for Kyrgyzstan. There are no plans on up-scaling the project to a medium-sized GEF.
Links between this project and the overall GEF
Information campaign and training actions of the project demonstrated economical and environment gains of activity based on nature protection activities.
Influence on government policy
There is no obvious influence on government policy on National level but the peninsula allocated by local authority for project implementation is illustration of project influence on the local level.
Benefits achieved for/ by participants during implementation

 The local population agrees to stop economic activity, which strengthens damage to endemic species (grazing)
