Main idea of the project is rehabilitation of biodiversity by planting nut forest on mountain slopes around the Kara-Kol village.
Actions to be undertaken by Public Ecological Foundation «Chilten»
10. Mobilization of local people
11. Procurement and planting saplings of walnut, wild apple, currants in the territory of 55 hectares.
12. Raising local people awareness about environment and sustainable nature management.
13. Fencing the territory
14. Demonstration of alternative livelihood.
15. Allocation of plots among the local population.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
At the seminars and round tables, it will be emphasized, that the actions under the project will result not only in occurrence of additional sources of the income of the local population and stabilization soil erosion of a slope, but also restoration of relict nut forest, that will be the direct contribution to preservation of the global biodiversity.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Fruit bushes and trees may be used for internal needs (jam, compotes) and for external sale as a raw material for medical products. The saplings of fruit plants included into Kyrgyz Red Book and others may become an additional source of the income if there will be demand for them.
