GREEN Network's Gender and Renewable Energy Project
GREEN Network's Gender and Renewable Energy Project
The project falls within the Climate Change focal area where the project intends to reduce cultural and social barriers to renewable energy and energy efficiency. The project intends to contribute towards promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency in peri-urban and rural areas in the Umgungundlovu District Municipality. This will be achieved through building the capacity of the CBO's in the GREEN network, developing capacity in 8 rural communities and initiating three renewable energy demonstration sites.

The Green Network reaches 15 community based organisations, who have all formed part of this CBO network. Green has also established partnerships with the KwaZulu Natal, Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, the Umgungunglovu District Council, the Department of Minerals and Energy and the Msunduzi Municipality.
