Preservação e Conservação do Cerrado
Preservação e Conservação do Cerrado
The Xakriabá Indians live in a dry, degraded area, in São João das Missões, state of Minas Gerais. Riverbeds and springs will be enhanced with the re-introduction of native species. Riparian woods will be recovered with fruit-yielding pequi mangaba and murici trees. Sweets, oils and medicaaine production from these fruits will be encouraged in the community. The project will htus assist in fighting fires, illegal wood extraction by trespassers, and training young adults in defending the environment.
