Estratégia de Desenvolvimento Sustentável para uma Comunidade Rural do Cerrado
The Gameleira Agrarian Reform Settlement will have its development promoted with basis on sustainability, in this project. Capacity-builidng courses will target assotiativism, contributing to nutritional enhancement for the families and building awareness about conservational practices, preservation of nature and local potential for tourism. Agroecology, agroextractivism, ecotourism and cooperativism will therefore be explored.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
40 people will be trained in agroecology, for the implementation of community organic gardens. A cooperativism and assotiativism course will also be offered for 40 people, covering topics such as community organization. 40 pelople will be trained in agroextractivism for forest management of local native species. 30 women will be trained in enriching and diversifying the diets of families in the community. Last but not least, 30 monitors will be trained in ecotourism.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Environmental protection and an alternative source of income are the goals of this project.
