Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
A community based management committee was formed after conduct of PRA in the villages nearby the project site.
Different SHGs such as farmers clubs, women thrift groups (DWCRA/Indira Kranti Pathakam of State Government) were involved in several occasions in the growing, harvesting, processing and preservation of fodders at the project by the project leader.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Because of the growing of several types of fodders in one particular locality a continuous livelihood can be provided by employment, by same of fodder slips/seeds by availability of seed material both for consumption (sustainability) and for sale to other needy farmers.
This was amply proven under the present project where besides educating the farmers, they were also provided employment as well as fodder in the form of seed, slips, hay and silage through Fodder for Work program.
Hence the sustainable livelihood can be generated under the project [provided financial support for the successful season-to-season operations are provided to the farmers.
