Sabar Sena(?Water Brigades? on the banks of river Sabarmati, to protect and preserve biodiversity and river based civilization)
The project emphasis is to make people ready to face the challenge of changing ecological situation and bring out new solutions / or approaches by demonstrating different rain water harvesting structures and systems having potential to improve socio-economical and environmental situation of the community, ecology and area.
Through this project the NGO aims to conserve local biodiversity and at the same time reduce the drudgery to the local people when it is a question of their livelihood.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
During the first phase of the project village panchayats, milk cooperatives, youth organizations, and schools will be contacted and salient features of the project are to b explained and strategy of the project will be worked out in consultation with resource persons. Local youths and women will take a leading role in planning, execution and implementation of the project. During the participatory strategic planning, people themselves will do context analysis and will develop VMRSOP (Vision, Mission, Role, Strategy, objective and Planning) for the project and based on gap analysis and strength weakness analysis various options will be explored. The community will contribute 10% of the project cost. The project started with the formation of the ?Saber Sena? who were the youth of the villages and were the torchbearers and participated in the implementation of the project.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Public awareness has definitely increased and dialogue with the community, youth also brought out the same. Awareness programmes like magic and experiments with water (6,335 students, 219 teachers from 30 different schools participated) and science fair (approximately 110 schools, 505 teachers, 15050 students and 5400 visited the Sabar Sena stalls) were conducted.
