Conservation and Sustainable Management of the Krasna Valley
Krasna River Valley with established thanks to previous GEF/SGP grant is natural eco-tourism back-up for Voivodship centre Kielce with nearly 300.000 inhabitatats;establishment of the reserve which should be enlarged, took a lot of efforts to convice local people that nature preservation can generate extra income for them through growing tourism; previous activities concentrated on nature value, this project is aiming in preparation of local community for growing tourism and genereation of income by special, local products based on cattle,sheep,goose,poultry raising of forgotten, on the RED LIST of FAO, local species of genetic value (living genetic bank) and plants (cereals,herbs).Krasna River Valley needs extensive farming just to bring back and secure all habitats valuable for birds, mammals.
Project also should initiate some sustainable activities (preparation of use of biomas from necessary moving in the reserve according to protection demands and plans) - usage of hay and straw with assistance of local farmers (extra income!) for energy purposes in local school, replacing coal.Created Local demand will establish a permanent sustainable mechanism instead of applications to funds (risky,unsecure) for money for mowing.
