Serzhong Water Supply and Forest Conservation Project to be implemented by Kuenphen Tshogpa (KT)in Mongar Dzongkhag for water supply to Serzhong Community Primary School (CPS), installation of Solar Lightings in CPS and installation of improved stoves in the CPS
Serzhong Community Primary School is located under Shermung geog in Mongar district. It provides primary education to 214 students from 14 villages consisting of 200 households. The community school is built by the local communities with their own contributions. The community school kitchen used traditional open stoves which consumed large quantities of firewood. There also was shortage of water supply and lack of electricity. Therefore, through SGP funding, the Kuenphen Tshogpa which consists of the representatives from the School, communities and with support from the District Administration, implemented the project to realize the following objectives:

1. Reduction of fuelwood consumption through installation of fuel-efficient stoves;
2. Improvement of water supply facility;
3. Installation of solar lightings for the community school;and
4. Plantation to improve the forest cover of the area.

Notable Community Participation
