Mitigation of Carbon Dioxide Through Energy / Eco Friendly Cooking Methods
The project will survey the current cooking practices of rural women in Perur and Madukkarai and their understanding of its impact on their immediate environment and create awareness among the identified Self-Help Group women and youth about community-led initiatives for reduced carbon emission and its impact on the environment. Locally available low cost technologies like smokeless chulhas, solar cookers and solar lanterns will be promoted and will conduct a prospective health study looking at the change in the health behavior and respiratory problems among the participating women. The project intends to achieve the set objectives through organizing capacity building programmes, formation of joint programme management committees, surveying, baseline health evaluations, construction of smokeless chulhas, introduction of solar cookers and lanterns, carrying out reporting and monitoring exercises of the project.
