Empowering Tribal Women Towards Conservation and Sustenance of Natural Resources in Distt. Betul, Madhya Pradesh
The purpose of the project is to:-
1. Evolve indigenous techniques at environment conservation for exhibiting the potencial of tibal communities in conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources.
2. Build models of participatory management and conservation of land and water resources.
3. Explore the utility of locally available skills and techniques in sustaining natural resources at remote locations.
4. Create a cadre of skilled women groups for ensuring long term sustainability of the project outcomes.
5. Promote sustainable livelihood for the tribal poor thereby lessening the unsustainable utilization of natural resources in the project region
The proposed project is an action based initiative, which seeks to utilize collective strength of tribal women in conservation and sustenance of natural resources in chosen villages. Tribal women share equal workload of running their households but with greater sense of responsibility and demonstrated capability. Hence, the focus on empovering tribal women through constituting SHGs and regular skill building by way of customized trainings and networking initiatives.

Capacity - Building Component
? Mapping of available resources for creating a resource inventory of the villages will be done. ? Utilizing indigenous knowledge at preparing vermicompost cropping techniques, inoculating local seeds for promoting bio-farming in the area mitigating the hazards of foreign fertilizers and associated cropping practices. ? Finding linkages with cross cutting programmes of the government/other projects on the ?panch-J? for assimilating proposed project process/learning towards generating outputs on a much bigger scale.
