Integrated Sustainable Extraction of Pequi Fruit and Buriti Palm and Mangabeira Reforestation
Projeto Integrado de Extração Sustentável de Pequizeiro, Buritizeiro e o Reflorestamento da Mangabeira
This project will avoid deforestation by creating a basis for integral use of Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense Camb) and Buriti (Mauritia vinifera) derivatives, as well as reforesting these trees and the native Mangabeira (Hancornia speciosa). Economic, social and environmental activities will promote the sustainable use of Cerrado products, with support for excluded families in the municipality of Côcos, in the São Francisco Valley in the state of Bahia. Local workers' organization will be focussed on Cerrado conservation and improvement in the quality of life.
