Avifauna protection in the middle Vistula River Valley
80-90% of a global mew gull (Larus canus)populaton is in Europe, in past 2 decades a rapid decline of population 3540% is observed and is linked to growing presence of Mustela vison (Norway,Denmark,Finland,Scotland,Ireland) and/or fox (Vulpes vulpes 9Netherlands, Germany.90% of Polish population of mew gull ( 4000-4300 pairs in mid 1980s, in 2001 - no more than 2300-2500 with permanent declining trend) can be found on islands in the Middle Vistula River .
Project aims in protection against it?s predators using well checked methods of using electric fences around the most dense nest's places, also temporary . Local community education and project promotion.Promotion of some innovative techniques (checked in Brittain and described in literature).Active habitat/species protection supported by leading experts and scientist.
