Biodiversity - Protection of orchards in monasteries
Monasteries of different clauses established in Poland from XI Century
were places from which message and know-how about herb vegetable gardens and orchads with old varieties of fruit trees , of great genetic pool,was spread around.This uniqness of condensated biodiversity in 218 monasteries is presently under threat ,slow decline, not in monasteries , of low profile in today monasteries.
Project aims in preservation of existing genetic resources (necessary detailed inventory), restoration of orchads and gardens;trainings for nuns and monks on ecological agriculture and gardening;inventory of old recipes;creation (or reconstruction) of local products;restoration of bee-garden and reintroduction of wild bees in other monasteries.
The scope of project, selection of monasteries was done during implementation of preparatory mini-grant.
