? Initial studies and selection of project site in collaboration with local authorities based on selected indicators
? Conducting basic studies
? Presence in the project area to assist with the formation of a local organization by blocking and selecting representatives for each block
? Starting capacity building and educating about participatory management
? Participatory preparation of the fund?s guidelines, formation of groups, selection of group leaders and the fund?s board of directors.

Project outcomes:
? Establishment of a local fund with 380 members (60% women0 in 17 groups with approximately $ 25,000 in savings
? Funding 260 small loans to members for employment and income generating projects equivalent to 5 times the funds available balance ($ 125,000). Employment generation, work development, increased member?s income and economic enhancements in the area
? Funding of loans and vocational training for women heads of household and pastry production using dates
? Assistance with the protection and rehabilitation of the city of Bam?s orchard by allocating loans and training member date growers using the experiences gained from the project in agricultural pest control project and other projects including dryness in dates, mechanized tillage in date orchards to control pests and diseases as well as collaboration in simultaneous cultivation and compost production from date waste
? Formation of local development organization, participatory public collective thinking in planning, implementation, supervision and local capacity building. Creating sense of self-belief and increased capacity and innovative efforts by the people to solve problems
? Formation of a project support committee interacting and communicating with local authorities to identify needs and solutions to local authorities
? Conducting a series of soccer competitions entitled the Fund cup for the youth, transfer of land by the municipality for a park, assistance with drug rehabilitation of local addicts

Project Characteristics and Results
Replication of project activities
Local authorities and the Islamic Parliamentary Representative from Bam are supporting the expansion of the project to the extent where the provincial and district Governors have indicated their readiness in writing for project replication.
Policy Influence
The effective participation of the local community in the project has greatly improved the mindset of the Islamic Parliamentary Representative from Bam as well as the Governor and local officials towards people?s capabilities and the importance of their participation in various activities.
