The expected results for this project were: base documents providing subsidies for the TAC team on aforementioned issues; base documents about indicators; interchange among experiences; technical solutions offered; suggestions for specific governmental organizations. The base documents were successfully produced. Support was provided for SGP Brazil grantee participation in events focusing capacity-building, replication, politics, commercialization, dissemination and sustainable use alternatives. The following activities were undertaken: presentation of a paper discussing the SGP Brazil experience with sustainable use of water in an international seminar; presentation of a paper discussing environmental conservation in agrarian reform rural settlements in an anthropology meeting at the national level; participation of the TAC in an agroecology and participative certification meeting; publication of an article ?When small is big: theoretical reflections on sustainable development projects?; lessons learned updated, with recommendation s made to the federal government; participation in the ministry of Environment publication on project monitoring and evaluation; preparation of a document with SGP Brazil positions on different relevant issues, including agroecology, wildlife, beekeeping, handcrafts, biodiversity, certification, commercialization, communication, conservation, degradation, dehydration, ecotourism, renewable energy, fire, indicators, indigenous peoples, riparian woods, fish culture, medicinal plants, public policy, persistent organic pollutants, agroforestry systems, sustainable transportation, and universities. The project as a whole was considered of extreme importance and usefulness in providing an internal reflection and filling a gap in the capacity of the local TAC team which the administrative budget for the activities contracted could not cover.
