Provision a basis for restoration of the birch named after Yermolenko in the Baiynkol river water-meadow and involvement of the local population into the reafforestation activities (the first stage)
The village Narynkol is a remote village located high in the mountains. The nearest province center Taldykorgan is 610 km far from Narynkol. Population consists of 8160 people. The village isn't connected to other settlements by railway, airline and other communications, excepting highway. Unemployment of the population (there is a limited range of social facilities in the village) leadts to that a unique water-meadow woods located closely to Narynkol is felled.

The project is directed to preservation and restoration of a natural area of rare birch species. To reach the goal, at the project first stage (the first year) a birch nursery will be established, over 20000 birch seedlings will be cultivated annually. To guarantee the project sustainability and involve local population into the project, and to improve local people livelihood, a plantation of a sea-buckthorn berries for further industrial gathering of berries and leaves will be created. Local community will be trained in methods of gathering, processing and storage of medicinal and food plants, school forestry will be set up.
