Rehabilitation of Forest and Steppe Natural Landscape in Degraded Areas (Creation of a model site on rehabilitation of the degraded lands through optimization of productive properties of soil and restoration of natural forest-steppe and steppe landscapes of the region)
Biodiversity of the northern part of Kazakhstan is reduced due to intensive economical development, which leads to degradation of the natural steppe and forest-steppe landscapes. This region differs from the other areas of Kazakhstan by high allotment of agricultural lands: 85,6 % is farmlands. Besides anthropogenous pressure, lack of money for regenerative activities at the local level is a serious problem. Low level of ecological culture of the population increases the problem.

As the project result practical recommendations to be used for duplicating project experience will be developed.
Expected results:
Recultivation of the degraded soils on the project site is lead
The project results on rehabilitation of the degraded lands and creations of natural landscapes are summarized in a form of practical recommendations and distributed all over the region
Local population actively participate in the project activities at all the stages
Local people awareness about the problem is raised.
