Livelihood Development by Renewable Energy
Livelihood Development by Renewable Energy
The project area is situated in lower portion of the Nan River where target groups earn their living through agricultural practice- paddy farming and horticulture. Initiated two years back and supported by the Renewable Energy for Sustainable Association, supplementary occupation is agro-product processing , especially banana which is plentiful locally, by using solar energy. As to other group such as schools in the area, holistic education on renewable energy has been being launched. Even though these group was rated as partially successful, there need to be more systematic capacity-building and application of renewable energy and energy conservation to ensure maximum efficiency.

Initiated through monitoring and evaluation process and participatory approach of the project, the project aims to induce behavioral adjustment toward environmentally-friendly ,less energy consumption to contribute to reducing emission rate of green house gas. In addition, there would be a process of sharing and learning on management of conservation plan to reverse degradation of global environment.

Project participants and/or beneficiaries:

1. Community members in 4 villages would be direct beneficiaries.
2. School of Renewable Energy Technology, Naresuan University
3. Muang District Office of Community Development, Phijit Province
4. Baan Tham Khanong School
5. Sarklek Tambol Administrative Organization

Activities to be carried out under project:

-Launching training, open forum, survey of energy use and its implication and new energy source, study tours
-Formulating Energy Plan
-Building 3 hybrid solar-biomass dryers , 15 charcoal-producing kilns and learning centres for organic farming , solar cells and low-speed engine (coconut oil)

Anticipated Results of Projects:

- Reduction of energy from fossil fuel and electricity by 30 %
- Emergence of energy management plans in three areas with support from local administrative bodies
- Reduction of canned gas by approximately 80 %
-50 kg. of charcoal and 4 litres of wood vinegar produced per burn, for use and sales
-emergence of learning places and network of energy conservation by CBOs?
