Promoting the dissemination of sustainable energy use technologies
Promoting the dissemination of sustainable energy use technologies
The use of solid and liquid fuels for cooking, space and water heating is common practice in low income households in South Africa. The appliances that are generally employed are inefficient, giving rise to combustion products into the indoor air in households that are often poorly ventilated. The project aims to raise awarenss of community members of the negative health impact of these fuels and aims to promote alternative energy technology. The project is implemented recognising the fundamental human needs of cooking ans staying warm and that families will resist change unless real benefits of change is perceived.
