Conservation and Management of the Manchón Guamuchal wetland
Shell farming, basic forestry activities on dry forest coastal ecosystem, environmental education at community schools, community hunting profile and migratory and resident avifauna research on a RAMSAR declared wetland.
Objectives:
1)To provide sustainable use options of a native specie of mollusk, Anadara grandis.
2)To establish hunting monitoring activities.3)To provide trees for reforestation purposes of dry forest local species in one community.
3)To provide biological monitoring activities of migratory and native bird species.
4)To provide continuity to environmental education activities in 4 local community schools.
This project will establish a previously tested system of growing the mollusks in cages with community participants that have requested this activity. A series of interviews with local people will provide basic information about the hunting activities in the wetlands. In the near future this information will be utilized to establish a cinegetic calendar with
