Reinforcing of the banks of the Koszhar lake, combat to land degradation and desertification through creation of protecting forest belt in Koszhar village of the Aral Sea area
Reinforcing of the banks of the Koszhar lake, combat to land degradation and desertification through creation of protecting forest belt in Koszhar village of the Aral Sea area
As the result of the Aral Sea?s drying out, the climate of the region has changed. Because the delta-parts of the rivers are drying out, vegetation of the region is on the verge of vanishing. The world of animals and plants is degrading. The drying parts of the sea and the rivers? deltas are becoming natural mobs and spreaders of infection and polluting substances. In the village there blows strong wind that rouses dusty storms. The wind spreads the dust, containing high concentration of salt, from the surface of the dried out bottom of the sea to big distances, which causes salting and degradation of the nearby agricultures.

2-3 km away from the village, 90 km away from Aralsk, there is natural relief, which contains the hill and the lake Koszhar. The most important problem for the local community is keeping and securing the banks of the lake, waters of which wash away the banks. The villagers understand that there is a need to plant new trees and they want to plant the zone near the banks, and in the future planting the personal house yards.

According to the project it is planned to create a forest belt with the length of 2 km and the width of 30 km along the lake till the village of Koszhar, planting local sorts of trees, such as elm, turanga, etc. The forest park will become the recreational zone for the population of the village. Propagation of methods of rational use of thawed snow for degraded lands restoration will be carried out.

Expected outcomes:
1. Creation of the forest belt for the restoration of the degraded lands and local population?s recreation
2. Creation of the basis for further planting with trees and gardens in the Koszhar village
3. Utilization and further agitation of the method of rational usage of thawed waters for restoration of the degraded lands
4.Improvement of the ecological and esthetical site of the village and improvement of the local inhabitants? health.
