Promoting the adoption of renewable sources of energy (biogas installations) by reduction their production costs, increasing awareness about construction types, implementation of loan schemes among rural population of adyr zone in the Osh oblast.
Adyr area of Osh oblast of Kyrgyzstan represents semi-desert and steppe landscapes of foothills and submountain plains of Tyan-Shan. It is an area of intensive farm production. Local population uses manure and also burns remains of vegetation on agricultural land as a fertilizer. These methods lead to significant emission of greenhouse gases into atmosphere. Local population is aware and knows slightly about biogas installations. This superficial knowledge hampers the widespread introduction of biogas installations. The purpose of the project is initiation of widespread introduction of biogas installations by removing barriers as insufficient awareness and high cost of production of individual biogas installations.
In the course of project implementation it is expected to obtain the following results:
Ecological
- Reduction of volume of greenhouse gas emission at the expense of decrease of practice of using dried manure and burning remains of vegetation as fertilizer.
Economic
-reduction of direct money expenditures for purchase of chemical fertilizers;
-lowering costs for production by organizing serial (workshop) production from available local materials
- facilitation of acquisition of installations at the expense of introduction of credit scheme
Social and cultural
- Raising level of awareness of the population about greenhouse gases and their global significance
- Increase of engineering knowledge on production, assembling and exploitation of biogas installations
Actions to be undertaken by Public Foundation «Ayjana»:
1. Conducting seminars and round table.
2. Organizing Steering Committee for selecting application from local people and monitoring the project.
3. Organizing workshop for serial producing biogas plants in rural area.
4. Produce and install 5 demonstrative biogas plants and allocate them to local people.
5. Publishing exploitation manual.
6. Information campaign.
There will be involved 5 farms in the project that are from Teleiken ayil okmet of Karasuu rayon, employees of Osh State and Osh Technological University, members of the public foundation ?Ayjana? and ?Eco-oy?.
The main project activity will take place in the farms of villages Uchar, Japalak, Pyatiletka of Teleiken ayil okmet of Karasuu rayon.
The main expected ecological and economic benefits of the project are:
-reduction of emission of greenhouse gases
The biogas installation will allow receiving clean manure fertilizer for agricultural needs. In addition, volume of fertilizers will considerably decrease in comparison with volumes of crude manure used as fertilizer. Introduction of biogas units will reduce using of kizyak (dried manure), that will result in improvement of sanitary conditions both inside house, and in a court yard.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Information campaign and training actions of the project are directed to demonstrate for local population the necessity of using modern non-polluting technologies for daily life. It will be emphasized, that these measures provide a low level of emission of the gases creating greenhouse effect and by that soften consequences of climate change.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
It is intended that the project will help to introduce new financial schemes for group procurement. One could say that innovation is concluded in using the scheme of credit unions for introducing environment friendly technology.
