Extracting baseline for full grant project - participatory indigenous literature development on natural resources and climatic condictions of Persian Gulf and enhancing local community libraries (Hormoz and Qeshm Islands), Hormozgan Province -Persian Gulf Region
The overall goal of the full grant project is to develop the indigenous literature on the natural resources and the climatic conditions of the Persian Gulf for children and youth as well as enhance the community libraries in Hormuzgan Province (Hormoz and Qeshm Islands) with the participation of the local communities. The project will collect data and samples from the environment. It will also compile the local tales, customs and culture, which will all be used to develop environmental books for children and teenagers. These books will preserve the local folklores from being lost in time and would be a useful tool for awareness raising on the environment and climatic conditions of the islands. Another output of the full grant would be to arrange a local community library, which would also serve as a museum for the environmental data and samples by the active groups of the project.
The grantee is using a planning grant to extract the baseline in order to complete the design of the project. The baseline will be extracted through a site visit to the region to:
1. Identify and gain more knowledge about the target audience
2. Conduct a needs assessment
3. Identify the interested stakeholders willing to co-fund the project and the possible type and amount of co-funding
4. Identify the existing centers and libraries and the possibility of collaboration
