Domnation of industrial orchads and industrial production of fruits based on foreign modified varieties caused a dramatic decline of original, local varieties of fruits in old home gardens, plots, affecting biodiversity in rural areas of Poland and affecting also landscape;old trees are cut as non-productive, those along raods (cherry,apple ,peras avenues established in XIX centuries are unde threat);
main problem to be solved how to effectively reconstruct old orchads, how to convince people to participate in implementation of BD convention on a very local and understood level by farmers, owners of plots; reintroduction of old varieteie will bring also extra income if marketing of local products based on family orchads will be secured and extra income generation also can be secured.Previous experience in project in Kurpie proved that market for native species plants,fruits,animals) is growing as an example of healthy food, healthy product and now - fasionable product.It is also protection of cultural heritage and values.
3 Voivodships are taken as the pilot area for establishment of new orchads by schools,, in landscape parks,centers for agricultural services(ODR).i establishment of new orchads and nurseries for replication of effects on local and regional level).at the end of process started in this proejct - in 3-5 years network of national genetic pool of old varieteies with nurseries should be established in all 16 voivodships (or less, recalling rather old historical regions)
