Preparation of full size project on conservation of snow leopard in Kyrgyz Republic by set up of stakeholders network, conduction of round tables and creation of project design working group.
Aroused interest to the hunting trophy leads to the predatory destruction of rare and endangered species of animals that have international importance among which is snow leopard. Second cause of disappearance of the snow leopard is its habitat area reduction (cattle grazing, tourist?s and household developing of mountains) and decreasing of basic food reserve (marmots and wild (mountain) goats). At the present time, series of organizations and even individuals are engaged in activity dealing with problem of the snow leopard conservation. Measures on snow leopard protection have point, unsystematic character that is why they are ineffective.
Main idea of the project is developing complex programme for conservation of snow leopard in Kyrgyzstan with involving all stakeholders and which will be supported by GEF/SGP.
