Rehabilitation of natural productivity of soils and decrease of landslide formation risk by planting wood and bush vegetation in the watershed plot of forest and steppe belt of southern slope of Atoinok Range.
Because of almost year-round keeping of cattle on village side pastures around Tegene village the land degradation processes go very quickly. Grass cover is almost destroyed by the cattle and wood and bush vegetation are destroyed by the population for heating needs. There is reduction of habitat of such endemic species of plants such as Petunnikov?s almond (Amygdalus petunnikovii Litv.) and prunoaflatunia (Prunoaflatunia V.Tkatsch.). Cattle?s driving on watershed area and top of the range is additional cause of landslide formation.
The main purpose of the project is to stop processes of desertification and landslide formation near Alcha plot through planting of wood and bush vegetation in the watershed area, including species recorded in the Red Data Book of Kyrgyzstan.
The additional goal of the project is to help in formulation of suit to Coal Company that is refusing from resoil of community lands.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
During training actions and information campaign it will be emphasized, that preservation of nearby habitat of wild fruit trees and bushes included into Red Data Book of Kyrgyzstan is the direct contribution to preservation of global biodiversity. Information campaign includes seminars for local inhabitants, articles in local press, information boards by the protected plot and road connecting village Tegene with oblast center and main road connecting South and North of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Harvest of nut trees and bushes and moving in fenced plot will provide with additional income population.
