Solar Energy and Economic Devleopment Project
Madi are comprises of 4 VDCs which is surrounded by Royal Chitwan National Park from North and West and separated by the Reu River. The Estern boarder of Madi is Parsa Wild Life Reserve (PWR).The southern boundary touches the Indian boarder but is separated by Someswor Hill and the other side touches the Balmiki National Park of India. Thus Madi area is an Island separated by protected areas. In order to go there, one has to cross 7 km of the park earthen road and also cross the Reu river which does not have a bridge. The govenemnt has planned to electrify the VDCs in 2000 and electric poles were also erected but until now the plan has not been materialised.

The project aimed to install 200 Solar Home System and also create revolving fund to serve more household in the Madi area. The project also has provision for seed money and capacity building activities to plan the sustainable livelihood activities to uplift their socio economic status.
